Disclose Your Blog
My husband forwarded this email from his work yesterday. I thought you might be interested. I also found a related scope from IZEA Blog about this FTC thing. If you are a paid blogger (like me), you might need to check this information for your future benefits.
"Many bloggers have accepted perks such as free laptops, trips to Europe, $500 gift cards or even thousands of dollars for a 200-word post. Bloggers vary in how they disclose such freebies, if they do so at all. But now the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is paying attention. New guidelines, expected to be approved late this summer with possible modifications, would clarify that the agency can go after bloggers — as well as the companies that compensate them — for any false claims or failure to disclose conflicts of interest. Bloggers complain that with FTC oversight, they'd be too worried about innocent posts getting them in trouble, because the common practice of posting a graphical ad or a link to an online retailer — and possibly getting commissions for any sales from it — would be enough to trigger oversight."
According to Marketing Pelgrim, 99% of bloggers have nothing to worry about. If you forget to disclose that you used a 50 cent coupon on that hamburger you raved about, you’ll probably be just fine. Likewise, if you blog that your new Ford gets 33mpg but in reality only gets 31mpg, you won’t likely face the wrath of the FTC.
In fact, the only bloggers that need to be wary of any new FTC guidelines are the ones that have brought this on us all. They are the ones that accept gift cards, then rave about their shopping experience. They claim their acne cleared up overnight, while receiving a free monthly supply of the skin-care treatment. In other words, the FTC is going after the professional bloggers that make a living off of freebies and commissions–all without an ounce of disclosure.
If you ever stop to ask yourself, "should I disclose this?" then the answer is probably "yes." The chances are that whatever is causing the guilt-trip isn’t worthy of the FTC’s attention, but you’ll feel better for disclosing it AND you’ll earn the trust of your readers!
Other tips that might help you sleep at night:

Grilled Herb Chicken on a Can
Make tender, juicy grilled chicken the trendiest way, with a can of beer! I've tried this before, and I'll tell you...it is really really good. I used the oven instead of the grill. I guess I will try this next time. You should try it too!
source: bettycrocker.com
1 | tablespoon paprika |
2 | teaspoons salt |
1/2 | teaspoon garlic powder |
1/2 | teaspoon onion powder |
1/2 | teaspoon pepper |
1 | whole chicken (4 to 4 1/2 lb) |
1 | can (12 oz) regular or nonalcoholic beer |
1. | If using charcoal grill, place drip pan directly under grilling area, and arrange coals around edge of firebox. Heat coals or gas grill for indirect heat. In small bowl, mix paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper. |
2. | Fold wings of chicken across back with tips touching. Sprinkle paprika mixture inside cavity and over outside of chicken; rub with fingers. |
3. | Pour 1/2 cup of beer from can. Hold chicken upright, with opening of body cavity down; insert beer can into cavity. Insert barbecue meat thermometer so tip is in thickest part of inside thigh muscle and does not touch bone. |
4. | Cover and grill chicken upright over drip pan or over unheated side of gas grill over medium heat 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes or until thermometer reads 180°F and juice is no longer pink when center of thigh is cut. |
5. | Using tongs, carefully lift chicken and place in 13x9-inch pan, holding large metal spatula under beer can for support. Let stand 15 minutes before carving. Remove beer can; discard. |

Preliminary Photos From My Garden
How's your weekend guys? Our weekend is kind of "mighty low" according to my hubby. Last Saturday we drove down to the Filipino store to get some groceries. We also tried to renew my passport, but apparently I don't have all the requirements with me so we need to go back there some other time.
Anyhow, this weekend we didn't plan anything special. It is hard to go outside when the weather here in N California hits 3 digits. It is pretty hot outside. So we've decided not to go anywhere. We spent most of the time at home. Hubby was busy planning his online classes, Akesha was busy playing around her toys, and I was busy gardening. By the end of the day 3 of us went outside and played with the sprinkler(soaking wet). How about you?

Michael Jackson is DEAD at 50
I just got up from a cat nap when I heard the news from the radio...."Michael Jackson died one hour ago from cardiac arrest". What? Shocking isn't it? May he will rest in peace. I am also sad to know that the brother of one of my closest friends sis Rose of "Rose's Obstacles and Glories" died from an accident the other day. My deepest sympathy to all the family who are left behind.
Michael Jackson, the record-breaking, sensationally gifted “King of Pop” who emerged from childhood superstardom to become the entertainment world’s most influential singer and dancer, and the tabloid world’s most disturbing celebrity, has died. He was 50.
A person with knowledge of the situation says Jackson died Thursday in a Los Angeles hospital. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity.
His death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music’s premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

FTC’s Sponsored Blogging Crackdown

Having Fun Under the Sun
Last week has been pretty hot here in Northern California, and it sometimes hit 3 digits specially during the summer time. I am glad that our backyard is surrounded by many trees, that at least helps to cool down a little bit. During the day time Akesha and I usually hang out in the backyard. I bring my lappy out while she's taking a plunge on her little pool or sometimes I let her play with the sprinkler.

WORLDS MOST EXPENSIVE SHOES
World's most expensive shoes go on display. A pair of sandals, which have gone on display at a Tokyo department store, are believed to be the most valuable shoes in the world.
Based on the pair of ruby slippers worn by Dorothy in Wizard of Oz, they are worth about £920,000. The sandals are studded with 690 rubies and were made for an actress to wear at the Oscars.
But the sandals were never worn as Oscar stars decided to dress-down for the ceremony because of the Iraq war. They are worth 50% more than the previous record holders which were also designed by Stuart Weitzman.
That pair were woven from platinum thread with 464 diamonds set in pure platinum and were worn at last year's Oscar's ceremony by Mulholland Drive actress Laura Harring.
FatPassport Personalized Travel Recommendations
My family and I love to go on vacations. We discovered this great website that is a new innovative way to get travel recommendations. FatPassport can give you personalized travel recommendations which includes how much the trip will cost. They have a trip engine where you input the country, city, travel style and what type of vacation it is and the system will give you some of the great destinations to visit. I inputted the Philippines with a midrange budget to find the best attractions and FatPassport recommended visiting Bohol to see the Tarsier. If you input general sightseeing in the Philippines, you will also get recommendations to visit Batad and the Chocolate Hills. Some of the great destinations in the United States are Haleakala National Park and Waimea Canyon in Hawaii. You will also get the Statue of Liberty in New York, The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Powell Point in the Grand Canyon. Some other great destinations would be Las Vegas, the San Diego Zoo and the 17 mile drive in Carmel California. This website is great for any vacation because it allows you to find out about the attractions you should visit. So what are you waiting for? Before planning your next vacation, you should visit FatPassport.com first.

Sorry I don't know what to call this dish...can anyone help me out here! lol...:) All I did was tossed all the spices, butter, lemon juice, and rolled the chicken with ham and cheese inside. Then throw it in the oven for 45 minutes at least or till it turns to golden brown. I have no recipe to share with you. I think you can figure this out by yourself....lol!

Dog Shedding Prevention
We own a one year old half collie and half chow dog. It was 4 years ago when my husband and I got him from the dog shelter. The dog shelter had trimmed his hair because it was shedding a lot. Not only did he shed a lot, but he also had a tick problem. The biggest issue I have with my dog is that he sheds a lot. The shedding gives me a headache because I have to keep cleaning his hair. How about you? Have you ever experience this with your pet? Do you know that there is a good solution for this issue? I just found out that constant excessive hair shedding of my dog is not normal. According to Dinovite.com, dogs and cats seasonally shed twice a year, spring and fall. They should not be constantly losing gobs and gobs of hair. If your pet is experiencing constant hair shedding, your pet may not be getting the proper nutrients. If you are looking for a customized solution, you should not look any further because dinovite.com is here to help. They will guide you and provide you with a tool that will solve your pets problem. You should check the solutions center to see what dinovite product are right for your dog . So what are you waiting for? You should visit them today to get started.
