It's World Read Aloud Day Today! | #ReadAndReflect #Staples #WRAD

Reading aloud is an activity that has allowed parents to not just share precious bonding moments with their children but has also allowed them to expose their children to comprehension and understanding skills as well as help them develop an interest in reading.
Reading plays an important part in literacy and to help promote its importance, Litworld has created World Read Aloud Day.
What is World Read Aloud Day? “Every year on the first Wednesday of March, World Read Aloud Day calls global attention to the importance of reading aloud and sharing stories. It motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words and creates a community of readers taking action to show the world that the right to literacy belongs to all people.”
This year, Staples is launching the #ReadAndReflect campaign to bring further awareness, particularly to parents around the world, to the importance of reading aloud. Their goal is to promote literacy by encouraging parents to read out loud to their children (or have their children read out loud to them!) and promote comprehension through drawing something that represents their reaction and/or feelings of the story. Staples is pretty kind enough to send some awesome WRAD-kits for my daughter to use.
I have seen, through personal experience, the many benefits that children can gain when their parents read aloud to them which is why I am truly glad to be a part of the campaign to help spread awareness to this worthy cause. To learn more about World Read Aloud Day, visit LitWorld.Org. Here's a video of my daughter reading us her one of her favorite books, The Clue in the Clubhouse.
Let's spread the word of World Read Aloud Day and help motivate children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words and creates a community of readers taking action to show the world that the right to literacy belongs to all people.

It was always one of my favorite things to do - read aloud to the kids and have them read aloud to me. Even when they're older, it can be fun!

I love reading to my girls! I went through a period where I started to read to myself, but came back to wanting to read chapter books with my mom before my reading really took off. I am hoping it's the same for my family!

My two oldest read by themselves and my little one won't sit still long enough but while I have him interested we read a few pages every night lol! Reading is such an important part of being a healthy child!

What a lovely day to celebrate! I've never heard of it before, but anything that encourages the kiddies to read is a win in my book.

Reading out loud to the kids is awesome. And all too soon, they're reading to us, which is awesome too. :)

First off, I love your daughter's hat. Yes, reading is the foundation to all we get to learn and use later in life.
