My Version of Pigs in a Blanket

The other day I tried to make my first version of "pigs in a blanket". What "pigs in a blanket" has to do with hot dog/sausage and crescent? Don't worry I made a little research.

It is believed that the dough wrapped sausage tradition began in Germany. The dish is called W├╝rstchen im Schlafrock ("Sausage in a Nightgown"). It consists of bratwurst wrapped in bacon, then completely covered with pastry dough and baked in the oven.

In the United Kingdom, "pigs in blankets" refers to small sausages wrapped in bacon. Usually served at Christmas lunch or with roast dinners, pigs in blankets are now considered an essential part of the Christmas meal.

In the United States, the term "pigs in a blanket" often refers to hot dogs or Vienna sausages wrapped in biscuit dough or croissant dough, and baked.

In Israel: Moshe Ba'Teiva (Moses in the Ark) is a children's dish consisting of a hot dog rolled in a ketchup-covered sheet of puff pastry or phyllo dough and baked.

Here are the simple steps on how to make "Pigs in a Blanket"

Sorry, I thought I over cooked them. This is what happened when your busy! I forgot to check the timer....hahhaha...well, hubby and Akesha likes it.

HaveYou Ever Had Licorice Before?

I personally don't like the taste of licorice candy. I don't like the smell of it and it taste like rubber or something. Maybe because I am not use to it, but my hubby loves it. He keeps asking me "Why you don't like it?", and my answer is "I just don't like the taste!". How about you? Do you like licorice candy?
Black Licorice

According to Wikipedia, Liquorice is a confectionery flavoured with the extract of the roots of the liquorice plant. A wide variety of liquorice sweets are produced around the world. In the U.S., licorice is called black licorice, to distinguish it from similar candy varieties that are not flavoured with liquorice extract, and commonly consists of chewy ropes or tubes. Most popular in the United Kingdom are liquorice allsorts.

Strawberry Licorice

In Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, The Netherlands, United Kingdom and the United States, there is also a product known as red liquorice, which is extruded in a way to resemble liquorice, but is made with strawberry, cherry, or raspberry flavourings as the main flavourings rather than liquorice. More recently similar products have been introduced in a wider variety of flavours including apple, mango, blackcurrant, watermelon and strawberry, among others.

A Day at the Local Fair

As I mentioned to you the other day, we went to the local fair last Saturday. Akesha went on some rides and rode on the pony. Hubby and I are not happy with one of the rides because nothing worked. That fun house was a piece of crap, and we paid 4bucks for nothing. Anyhow, it was great to spend some quality time with the family.

Here are some of the photos. Just scroll down to see some of them.

Exploit the Power of Android

Google has always come up with brilliant ideas that will benefit the entire world. Do you know that the Google Android phone services will be launched shortly? The Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. These applications will ship with a set of core applications including an email client, SMS program, calendar, maps, browser, contacts, and others. Android Storage will allow you to store your 2 Gigabytes of FREE music, videos/movies, photos, and files on the web, but will make them all available to your G1 or Android compatible phone. You can also store 50 Gigabytes of mobile media storage and streaming services for only $10 a year. This way you can access all your files as if they are stored on the phones memory card without having to use the phone's actual memory card. This allows the Android phone users to reserve their phone storage for programs and applications and not multimedia and files. One of the applications I would like to use is the ASpics. This application can make ALL photos available for viewing without the need for additional memory card space. I am sure most people are looking forward to use the Google Android phone. There will be about 350 million users expected to use the Android phone in the US and UK and over 300 million Chinese will be using this phone as well.

The Nurse's Guide to Good Living

The Scrubs is a great website that gives you good information on living a better life. The nurse's guide has nutrition, weight loss and beauty information that can help you live a healthier life. They even have some great information on love. I looked at their Nursing poll concerning nursing and they asked a question, “What is your favorite fictional portrayal of a nurse?” There choices were Greg Focker, Carol Hathaway, Carla Espinoza, Cecilia Tallis and Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan. I voted for Greg Focker because he was funnier. He also destroyed the stereotype of male nurses. They also have a “Tip Jar” that contains tips from seasoned nurses. You can select a question, and will receive a detailed answer from a nurse. I selected the question, “How to Deal with an Angry Family Member” since I have one angry family members. The response said, “Some people use anger as a defense mechanism when they're scared, confused, or feel helpless.” They also recommend getting out of there if a family member becomes violent. I left a comment about one member of my family who has anger problems. Nobody wants to have anything to do with him anymore because he hates everybody. I agreed with their analysis that you should get out of there if the person becomes violent. There isn't any need for a person to get hurt because someone can't control themselves. This is a great website with some good information and you should checkout it out.

The Nurse's Guide to Good Living

Are you a nurse, or thinking of becoming a nurse? You should checkout the Scrubs website because they contain some great information for nurses. Even if you aren't a nurse, you would enjoy visiting this site and reading “The Nurse's Guide to Good Living”. This site is very powerful and uplifting for any reader. They have great articles for every reader such as “My Path to Nursing”, “Male Nurse Myths” and “How Could I Have Lung Cancer”. They also have an interesting article about Farrah and her debacle. It talks about how many celebrities pass through Dr. Brady Pregerson's door and how the employees keep their mouth shut because they don't want what happened to Farrah to occur again. If you are a student nurse, you should read these articles to give you a deeper understanding of your career, and even if you are a seasoned nurse, you still want to keep your mind fresh with what is happening in the nursing field. You would definitely enjoy reading some of the nurses stories and the comments associated with them. One thing I learned from this site is the 8 sleep tips for evening nurses. I am not a nurse, but I could use sleep advice myself. They suggest eating the day's final meal as soon as possible on arrival home after your shift. You should start winding down as soon as possible, and you should go to bed one to two hours after you eat (3 a.m.). This is some great advice for people who work nights. So if you want to read some great articles from nurses, you need to visit this site.
