3 Ways to Fall in Love with Your Smile

We are our own worst critics. Why do we judge ourselves so harshly all the time? Looking at other people and their perfect this or perfect that, we wonder why we can’t be like them or look like them. This kind of thinking isn’t going to get you anywhere, and will probably leave you feeling sad and jealous.
Smiles, and teeth, are one of those things that not many people like about themselves. Yeah, you’ll do it for family pictures, but more often than not you’re the one who takes goofy selfies to cover up the fact that you don’t like your smile, or you can’t take a picture to save your life and wind up looking like Chandler Bing (from FRIENDS).
Don’t want to continue on like Mr. Bing? Then take a look at these three ways to fall in love with your smile!
1. Practice!
You might feel like a total weirdo for a minute, but practicing your smile can really help you to love it. Stand in front of a mirror for a couple minutes throughout the day and smile at yourself. Think of something that makes you laugh or think of a happy memory and catch a glimpse of your genuine smile. It probably isn’t captured very often with staged photos and goofy selfies, so see for yourself what your real smile looks like. You might find that you like it.
2. Laugh often
If you are always laughing and enjoying yourself, there won’t be any time to worry about your smile. Beyond that, people who laugh often are generally more confident in themselves and their looks. Get your daily dose of laughter, especially around other people, and become more confident with your smile.
3. Cosmetic Dentistry
Some of us were just born into the poor dental gene pool and inherited Great Aunt Sally’s over bite, crooked incisors, or yellow teeth. And there is nothing wrong with the desire to improve your smile cosmetically with the assistance of teeth whiteners, braces, or veneers. If you have concerns such as these, ask your dentist what your options are for any of these. If they don’t personally do cosmetic dentistry or orthodontics, they can probably provide you with a good recommendation.

Don’t go on any longer disliking your smile. Do what it takes to fall in love with your smile, to love yourself, and you’ll find you’re much happier for it.
