...

Hi everyone! Sorry for not being able to update my blog for awhile. We got back from our vacation last Saturday evening. Our Florida vacation went so well. We had a great time with the Cottrills, the kids had a blast the most.

In the middle of our vacation, I received an unexpected call from my family in the Philippines. My grandfather had a stroke, and was rushed immediately to the ICU. I was devastated when I heard the news. My family told me not to worry because the doctor told them that he's fine and they're ready to release him. But on the next day, I got another IM message from my family that my grandfather was in comatose and his chance of surviving was pretty slim. I was speechless! Not my grandpa. Right after our vacation, he took his last breath - Saturday morning.

It’s really a hard time right now for me and my family.  My grandpa is an irreplaceable, incredible, valuable person – is at the end. I'm going to miss you Lolo. Honestly, I’m not ready and don’t want to write about his death. I still can't believe that he's gone. May he will rest in peace. There’s nothing more painful than losing someone we love.

I really would like to go home and attend my grandfather's funeral, but I CAN'T! Hubby and I can't afford to pay for the plane ticket. Each person costs $3k plus. Our initial plan was to fly by myself, but when we found out the cost of the plane ticket, I don't think if we're able to afford to pay for it. So we thought it would be a good idea to send money instead to help for the funeral expenses. My family in the Philippines understand my situation, and I'm sure my grandpa as well. I'm just glad I was able to see him on skype last month and got to spend time with him last year.

I won't be able to share our vacation photos yet, maybe next week. Right now, I have no desire to update my blogs. Just give me some time. Thanks for dropping! Your visit and comment is highly appreciated.

Hi sis, I am really sorry for your loss. May Lolo rest in peace with Him up there. I understand how you feel because I have been there. I was just fortunate then that hubby was still in the service and availed the perks that Navy has to offer... our travel expense was paid for.

Take your time and be strong okay? Hugs.

hi yotch. nawad-an diay sab ka ug loved one. i'm sure you got good memories of him from the sense of your post that you are really proud of him. is he the first grand parent you have lost? I lost two grandparents of my mother's side when I was in 3rd grade. I am so close to my grandma and i treated her like a real mom. i was so sad when i lost her, and until now, i still yearn for her presence because its always soothing to remember memories with her. my father in law also passed away 3 weeks ago. my husband is so heart broken coz he thought he loved his father so much and he thought that its already too late that he could give more time for him while he was still alive. i only knew him for 2 years in letters and 3 years staying here in America. i even wish he was my father because he was so good and close to me like a real father. i am sad that he passed away because he could have enjoyed more time of his two and only grandsons, at present. anyhow dhemz, just like sis shy said, i'm also here for you if you needed somebody to talk to. can't wait to read your florida vacation. rose's blogs has been filled with pictures of you and your family with them. me jealous but what can i do...pasalubong nya ha.

Hello Dhemz.

I am so sorry to hear about your grandpa. At least, he had a great and happy life as he was surrounded by the people who loved him the most.

Flying to the Philippines is really expensive. Even from sweden. The plane fare's just scary. WE, too want to fly home within this year but the tickets are so unreasonably priced so we've decided to spend a week in London instead as it's 80% cheaper. My family understands the situation...

I am sure that the money you'll be sending to your family instead of buying the expensive plane fare will help a lot. That's the wiser decision as of the moment.

You take care and take a rest. Take some time to heal.

Condolence for the death of your lolo. I know how hard it is for you to accept that since you were so close to him when you were still in the Philippines. Your wonderful vacation in Florida was marred by the unexpected death of your lolo. You can rest in the assurance that you will be able to see him again someday in heaven. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.

Omg I'm so sorry!! I know what it's like having someone close to you slowly slip away, my grandmother was my life but she was taken away by cancer.. we tried to fold a thousand paper cranes by her bed but we never even got near in time. I guess this just shows that we need to cherish the ones next to us.

Fantastic post
