Asbestos Survey

If you are trying to find better ways to take care of your home, you should consider having an asbestos survey conducted. This is where a trained asbestos surveyor will perform and inspection on your home looking to see if they can find any asbestos fibers. Asbestos can be very dangerous and that is why you have to make sure all of your roof sheets, plaster board, pipe lagging, floor tiles, roof tiles, toilet cisterns, bitumen adhesive and Artex are all clear of asbestos. All of these items have contained asbestos up until around 1990. This becomes even more important if your home was built before 1990. There are many organizations who can inspect your home, but the best way to do it is to find an ISO 17020 accredited asbestos surveying company to do it for you. The ISO 17020 is the international standard for inspection bodies and sometimes referred to as the UKAS accredited. The company will need to operate under the MDHS100 which is the UK asbestos surveying guidelines. In the UK, it is the law to have this inspection for a business, but it isn't the law for a home. However, homeowners should be aware that it would be a good idea for them to get it too. You should visit the asbestos website to find out about getting an asbestos survey so you can be sure your home is save from asbestos. You don't want to wait until it is to late to get your survey completed.
