The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk

The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research . They are calling on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer's. There are walks in more than 600 communities around the world. It is a 2-3 mile walk held on a weekend morning in the fall.

They need volunteers for team captains. If you sign up as a team captain and you or your team raises over $500 dollars for Memory Walk you will qualify to win a weekend getaway to Las Vegas. This trip includes round trip airfare for two, three day and two night stay at Caesar’s Palace, two tickets to Elton John’s Red Piano show, and a $100 dollar gift certificate to Mesa Grill.

“Alzheimer disease or simply Alzheimer's, is the most common type of dementia. Alzheimer's is a degenerative and terminal disease for which there is no known cure. In its most common form, it afflicts individuals over 65 years old, although a less prevalent early- onset form also exists. It is estimated that 26.6 million people worldwide were afflicted by AD in 2006, which could quadruple by 2050,although estimates vary greatly.”

By joining a local Memory Walk, you will help to raise awareness in the community about Alzheimer's disease; to show support for local families affected by Alzheimer's disease; and, to help achieve a world without Alzheimer's disease.

"By teaming up with the Alzheimer's Association, you can walk with a purpose – and move us closer to a world without Alzheimer's. Together, we can MOVE a nation"

So what are you waiting for?! Join now for a good cause. Visit their website to find the nearest community in your area.
