Carabao....Cousins

It was my dad who took this photo a year ago during our 2nd visit to the Philippines. According to my mom, Akesha was overjoyed at seeing the carabao for the first time, and she did not even hesitate to take a ride on the carabao's back.....lol! They borrowed this carabao from a farmer so Akesha can ride on it. My parents took their 3 grandkids to the farm and gave them a free tour. I thought it was a neat idea for them to find way to bond with their grandkids. Akesha and her cousins had a blast.
This is my entry for this week's ABC Wednesday....
According to Wikipedia, the carabao (Filipino: kalabaw; Malay: kerbau) or Bubalus bubalis carabanesis is a domesticated subspecies of the water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) found in the Philippines, Guam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and various parts of Southeast Asia. Carabaos are associated with farmers, being the farm animal of choice for pulling both a plow and the cart used to haul produce to the market.

  1. Isn't she cute? So nice that she had a chance to bond with her cousins.
The carabao does look a little less ferocious than the water buffalo, and a lot better for children to ride on.
